A 3-2 Thriller in the Deep South Derby
Noordhoek FC Over-40s 3 - 2 Southend FC
Friday Night Lights, Ocean View
A late winner seals a 3-2 thriller for Noordhoek O40s
Both sides came out playing some proper possession football to start, trading passes and patience under the Ocean View floodlights. Southend struck first though, breaking the deadlock to go 1-0 up.
Noordhoek didn’t drop their heads. Relentless pressing won us a penalty, and Bradley Barnes stepped up with real composure to slot it home. 1-1, and the momentum shifted.
That equalizer lifted the whole team. Minutes later came the moment of the night: Magadien Slarmie timed his assist to perfection, sliding Darryl Bull through the Southend backline for a perfectly worked goal. 2-1 Noordhoek at the break.
Coach Joey Delcarme rolled the dice with a bold tactical change after halftime. It almost cost us — Southend found a way back to level it at 2-2 late on, and the tension was real.
Enter Wesley Davis. A masterclass from distance, a strike the keeper couldn’t hold, and Garth September was first to react to tap in the winner. 3-2 final.
Man of the Match: Magadien Slarmie
Our stalwart left back was everywhere — locked down defensively and created the goal of the season.
